The Meaning and Philosophy of Jong Hap Mu Sool
I think the meaning and philosophy of Jong Hap Mu Sool is togetherness. Everything that we do at Jong Hap Mu Sool, we do in unity. From punch blocking, to ground techniques, we all help each other learn and develop our skills further in martial arts when we work together at Jong Hap Mu Sool.
There are many reasons why I think that unity is the philosophy of Jong Hap Mu Sool. First of all the symbol we use at Jong Hap Mu Sool is fingers clasped together. Second, the name of our studio, Jong Hap Mu Sool, means combined martial arts. Third, each individual area of technique is combined with another. With kicking, there are a series of kicks that are combined in order to create a form. For example, the brown belt and the junior black-belt forms and the two parts of the escrima stick forms. There are a series of combined falls that create a form. Finally, we apply kicking and punching and we merge them into a combination of power, speed, focus, and accuracy to achieve breaking.
These three reasons are why I think unity is the meaning and philosophy of Jong Hap Mu Sool. The symbol, the name, and the different areas of techniques all show togetherness. When our teachers and peers work together, they form a family, and everyone learns and benefits. As a community, Jong Hap Mu Sool brings us closer.
